Sailing, Sailing, Over the Ocean Blue
Jeff says the next stanza is "I'm half crazy all for likes of you"
12.12.2023 - 12.12.2023
Hi again,
Well today is our first "Sea Day" and many are wondering what do you do all day while at sea. So here's the run down so far:
1. Start with coffee on our balcony
... and if you're wondering what our temporary home looks like, besides the balcony, it's a little like a Studio apartment:
However, we don't spend much time there other than to sleep, shower and change clothes.
2. Continue with our "Walk around the World" - Royal Caribbean gave us our own journal to record our daily walk of at least a mile. Then at the end of our 274 days we will have walked around the world. It's been great fun meeting all our fellow "walker" each morning:
We earn a stamp each day if we complete at least one mile. It helps to ensure we don't return home larger than when we came, in spite of the fabulous food. [Beef tenderloin last evening - done to perfection! [Message to Dave and Chad "They must use a meater thermometer!"]
3. Next, breakfast on the back of the ship, outdoors, overlooking the vast amount of ocean that surrounds us. Eggs benedict for me - Pancakes for Jeff. He's having something different every morning.
4. Oh, and here's Jeff's plan for 2PM today ..... let's hope he makes it! If he does he'll be "singing" in the Christmas program (suggestion-bring earplugs!)
5. At 9AM we attended our world travelers group chat where we learned more about some of our VISA requirements, shore excursions and safety. Good to know - Royal Caribbean has a agent in every port we're traveling to .. just in case we need help.
6. Took a moment to enjoy a Starbucks Grande Vanilla Latte,
7. Then off to the "Enrichment program" - Today's guest Jessica Nobango - author of "Catch me if you Can". She has been to every country in the world. 195 in case you're wondering. That pales compared to what we've managed to check off our bucket list!
You might say we're working on catching up. Her next book is one on recipes around the world .. I know I'd enjoy that one.
8. Speaking of books, I visited the library - those who know me know I'm a voracious reader. (Currently reading: "The Echo of Old Books: a Novel" by Barbara A. Davis). Although I read on a Kindle, Royal has set up a huge library for us with multiple copies of all new books. A readers HEAVEN! Might squeezee some reading time in today.
9. Next on the agenda - Lunch, of course. What's a cruise without food ?!?! Last night we sat next to a family from Austria with their two children. What an experience for these young ones .. not to mention us! We discussd how it's our first time in about 40 years that we haven't gotten a ski pass! Oh well, the slopes will be there next year.
10. We might do some minature golf, shuffle board or Rock climbing (not really) after lunch. Oh then of course, Jeff has his choir tryouts!
11. We can learn this afternoon about our next port of call .. or perhaps a dip in the pool .. or a nap?
12. Cocktails in the concierge lounge and before you know it's time to eat again. That's why we must WALK each day or visit the fitness center.
13. After dinner, music, dancing or the evening headliner. Last evening it was Mo5aic - an acappella group that was outstanding. Straight from Las Vegas. Their rendition of the hit from Queen was incredible. How do they make their voices do that. [Maybe Jeff should meet up with them for a lesson before his tryouts today!] Tonight's Headliner show features a lineup of Broadway hits. Should be fun.
14. Then off to get some shut eye. Tomorrows another busy day in this great world of ours. Last night we slept with our sliding glass door open to hear the ocean waves - that's not something we can do at home in Wyoming! There it is more like the sound of the Coyotes! [Right? Ty, Kylie, Yates, Aryington, Hardty, Van & Marilyn, Bill & Prill, Richard & Gwen?]
